Scientists have come up with a new currency designed to be used by inter-planetary travellers.
It is called the Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination, or Quid.
It is designed to withstand the stresses of space travel and has no sharp edges or chemicals that could hurt space tourists.
There are plans afoot to change the laws on treason in the UK, with a commission on citizenship led by Lord Goldsmith recommending reform, but what is the law ?
There is an awful lot of statute law in the UK that deals with treason.
But the most important part is from 1351. And it is perhaps one of the few pieces of 14th Century legislation to be regularly discussed in the 21st Century.
The original law said: “When a Man doth compass or imagine the Death of our Lord the King, or of our Lady his Queen or of their eldest Son and Heir; or if a Man do violate the King’s Companion, or the King’s eldest Daughter unmarried, or the Wife the King’s eldest Son and Heir; or if a Man do levy War against our Lord the King in his Realm, or be adherent to the King’s Enemies in his Realm, giving to them Aid and Comfort in the Realm.”
Or rather what the law actually said was in Norman French, but put succinctly in English, you can’t kill, conspire against or wage war against the king and his family. You also can’t have sex with his wife, heir’s wife or his unmarried eldest daughter. And the act goes on to rule out actions against the chancellor, treasurer and various categories of senior judge.
Well I bought an LG U990 for Christmas so I though I would let the world know what its like.
First of all I went into my local 3 Mobile shop because I wanted a mobile phone that I could seriously use to browse the internet and read and write emails. Don’t ask me why I wanted these things. Probably just because I could get them. My main requirement was a decent keyboard and a full keyboard. Whilst I’m perfectly comfortable with the predictive text, I wanted better. For me it was time to get a mobile mini-computer.
After lots of deliberations I settled on the LG U990. Believe it or not, there are very few mobile phones on the high street market that are fairly large and have a full qwerty keyboard. I’m not sure why. I guess there isn’t the market for them. I used to like the Nokia communicator for example (I know). It would have been good if it was 3g enabled. I was drawn by the large screen and the iPhone like functionality.
